Overview

Doncaster Scouts wanted to refresh a decades old event brand that had begun to feel tired and dated. The brief was simple. Modernise the identity, bring new energy to the entire event and attract new visitors from both inside and outside the district.

The team had the programme and the passion. What they needed was a cohesive brand, a clear message and a digital platform that could bring everything together, raise excitement and drive registrations.

This is where 7 Degrees Media stepped in.

Our Approach

We treated the Doncaster Mini Jamboree like a full scale event brand. The aim was to build something colourful, modern and rooted in the adventurous spirit of Scouting.

1. Brand Identity

We developed a full visual identity that included:

  • A playful event logo
  • A bright colour palette inspired by international themes
  • Typography and layout rules that aligned with Scouts brand guidelines
  • Iconography and patterns that could be reused across posters, social graphics, printed materials and signage

It needed to feel exciting for young people and trusted by volunteers while also creating a fresh look for a long running event with a loyal history.

2. Website Design and Build

We designed a purpose built website that:

  • Introduced the refreshed brand and new theme
  • Highlighted essential information for leaders
  • Encouraged early interest through an easy registration form
  • Provided updates and downloadable resources
  • Made navigation simple for parents, volunteers and external visitors

The site now acts as a single source of truth that brings order to a complex event.

3. Marketing and Content Strategy

To drive awareness and build momentum we produced a multi channel content plan covering:

  • Social media campaigns
  • Excitement building announcements
  • Leader focused updates
  • Sponsor outreach
  • Seasonal and theme led posts

Creative templates were also produced so the Doncaster Scouts media team could stay consistent with the refreshed identity.

4. Volunteer and Leader Communications

Clear information is vital when running a district wide event. We delivered:

  • Leader guidance
  • Email content
  • Website FAQs
  • Key messaging for smooth communication

This helped reduce confusion and improved the experience for volunteers and attendees.

Outcomes

  • The Mini Jamboree now has a strong, modern and memorable brand that reflects the scale and ambition of the event. Registrations increased, social channels saw more interaction and local businesses showed interest in sponsorship opportunities.
  • The website acts as a reliable hub for information. Leaders have praised the clarity and young people have responded with real excitement to the new look and tone.
  • The refreshed identity has positioned the event as a flagship moment for the district and created a base that can grow in future years.
