Hesley Wood: the first three months

What a joined-up marketing partnership involved, and the £42,000+ revenue result during the initial three months.

Hesley Wood: the first three months

A clear purpose for the marketing

Hesley Wood Scout Activity Centre offers outdoor experiences for young people, schools, community groups and organisations. The marketing needed to help more people discover those experiences and take the next step towards booking.

As a charity-led organisation, it also needed to make good use of the resources available. The starting point was a joined-up plan, with the creative work and day-to-day delivery connected to that purpose.

Bring the channels together

Our initial partnership brought together email marketing, social content, creative design, Google Ad Grant management and photography. Each had a role, but they needed to feel like parts of the same conversation.

Email could put an activity in front of an existing audience. Social content could help people picture the experience. Search advertising could meet relevant interest, while photography and design helped explain what was on offer.

Make the creative work useful

The aim was to create assets that could work across the centre’s marketing: imagery showing the place and its experiences, clear campaign messages and practical routes towards an enquiry or booking.

That meant thinking about where the work would appear before producing it. A photograph for a website header may need a different composition from one used in a social post. The message still needs to be recognisably Hesley Wood.

Look at the result in context

Hesley Wood generated £42,000+ in revenue during the initial three-month partnership.

That is a result for this individual partnership. Alongside the revenue, the work helped establish a more consistent marketing approach and a library of creative assets the organisation could continue to use.

The full case study sets out the challenge, the services involved and the outcome. Explore the Hesley Wood case study.

What to take into your own brief

Start with what the marketing needs to achieve. Agree how the channels will support each other, plan the content they need and decide how progress will be reviewed.

If your organisation needs help bringing those pieces together, explore our support for charities and community organisations or start a conversation.
